This listing is for the original paper campaign ticket shown. "Centennial Year, "1876 New Hampshire Democratic Republican Party Ticket, Daniel Marcy for Governor." Also included on the Ticket are Thomas Dinsmore for Railroad Commissioner. For local party candidates: Johas Livingston - Councillor; Clinton S. Averill - Senator; Ephraim K. Rowell - Commissioner; Reed P Whittemore - Register; and Daniel W Lane - Treasurer. Daniel Marcy ran for Governor in 1876 and 1877, and was unsuccessful in both attempts. Measures approx 4"x8.25".
The ticket is entitled the "Democratic Republican Ticket." Below that is an illustration with the crest of New Hampshire in the middle, surrounded by scenes representing "Sound Currency, An Honest Administration, and Economy & Reform." Below the illustration is written "Will Bring Prosperity!"
Daniel Marcy (November 7, 1809 - November 3, 1893) was a United States Representative from New Hampshire . He was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, became a sailor, he followed the sea and later engaged in shipbuilding. Marcy was a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives 1854-1857. He also served in the New Hampshire Senate in 1857 and 1858. He was again elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-eighth Congress (March 4, 1863 - March 3, 1865). After leaving Congress, he again served in the New Hampshire Senate in 1871 and 1872.
