This stunning 1.10 carat ruby from Burma/Mogok is perfect for an engagement, anniversary, July birthstone ring or just any other design that a stunning marquess setting calls for. It is not quite pidgin blood but darn close. These pictures were taken in the bright sunlight, inside the house and in office lighting. I apologize for the finger prints on the stone. It is considered a VS clarity and a good cut. It has good symmetry but it is just a tad thin. It can be put into a lower mounting for more active wearers. Ruble has a 9 on the Mohs scale where diamond has a 10. This one wholesales for 9.00 all day long. It has been heat treated but no other treatments have been done to it. Heat treatments in ruby and sapphire, corundum, is pretty much a standard in the field these days. They have been heating theses stones for hundreds of years. Heat does not change the stone at all where as glass filling them does. You can buy from one of the overseas dealers that sell these stones for a few dollars but you will be getting glass or heaven only knows what. Don’t let those certificates fool you! I wish I had a dollar for every client that came to me proud as punch and told me what a great deal the got on a wonderful certified stone only for me to prove to them they had a bunch of pretty colored glass. I’ve seen them pay high dollar on them also. Don’t be fooled! You can take my stones to any “certified gemologist” and if it does not come back as what I say it is, I’ll pay for the certification and refund your money. Just send me the certification and the stone back. I’ll pay the shipping too!
