SWEEDISH AERONAUTICAL SOCIETY BALLOON & BIPLANE SILVER PLAQUE LOVELY C-1796

Description

Here I offer a superb silver plaque struck with a matt finish. The finish plays havoc with my camera as it absorbs the light in different ways depending on the angle. The plaque is quite nice and in about perfect condition. It is large at about 4 1/4 inches by 2 1/2 inches. The society was formed as a balloon club in 1900 and awarded a similar plaque in 1912. This one was awarded to P.G. Peterson 10.11. 45 as a THANKS FOR SWEEDISH PRIVATE FLIGHTS as I translate it roughly. The first president of the club was named Peterson, but I don't know if this plaque has any connection to him. I did see a similar one for sale for more than 0 some time ago.
