    Description

Vintage Cigarette Advertising Placard Circa 1950 Condition is "Used". This advertising plywood placard was in our grocery store in the 1960s. It is printed on plywood 50 1/2“ x 4 3/8“ x 7/16“ thick. It was attached to the top of a cigarette rack that was supplied by Liggett Myers the company that made Chestefield, L&M, Oasis and other cigarettes. That was when cigarettes were about three dollars a carton. The cartons came decorated for Christmas so you could get your mom and dad a carton of cigarettes for Christmas. Such a nice gift. We sold hundreds of cartons of cigarettes per week in our little store. The close-up pictures show marks from scotch tape from extra advertising that was attached to the placard. It was probably the cost per carton. There are four holes in the sign from where it was attached to the shelving. The back side of the sign is just blank. The paint is nearly perfect throughout. This is one of the earliest signs used on the self service racks supplied by the manufacturer. The Oasis brand was discontinued in 1966 I believe. Shipped with USPS.
